For this piece, I used my body as a canvas and built on top of it to show a disconnect between the words I was speaking ("I love you" and "I hate you") and the actions I was performing (layering band-aids on my nose). I played with the idea that when you lie, your nose grows (like in Pinocchio). I used band-aids to show that it is sometimes painful to lie to someone. I also experimented using several different effects in Final Cut Pro, like layering, opacity, zooming in, cropping, changing the speed, and key framing some of these effects. My main goal for the piece was to show lying versus the telling the truth, which I emphasized not only with the actual building up (or "growing") of my nose (and later its return to normal size), but also with the differing speeds. I thought the slowing-down of the frames, which distorted my voice, represented the distortion of the truth; while the speeding-up, which caused my head the shake faster and faster, expressed a frantic explosion of coming clean (the truth).
